Admissions For New Applicants

Admission to the DSBA program requires successful completion of post-secondary education (e.g., degree, diploma, certificate).  Note: Applicants without post-secondary education must provide the following for consideration: i) professional resume; ii) cover letter addressing how your professional experience has prepared you for the program, and how the Diploma in School Board Administration would benefit you in your current role and/or desired future endeavors; iii) a minimum of 2 professional reference letters. 'Special Admission Consideration' will be extended to applicants who can successfully demonstrate related experience and training in lieu of post-secondary education requirements. 

Steps To Be Completed by New Applicants

If you are applying to the DSBA program, please complete the following steps: i) Complete the Application Form; ii) contact your most recent educational institution (e.g., college, university, etc.) to request that your official transcript be mailed directly to OpenEd, to verify your successful completion of post-secondary education (Mail to: Attention Program Manager, Open Learning and Educational Support, University of Guelph, 160 Johnston Hall, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, N1G 2W1); and, iii)  International participants must also provide a TOEFL score and an assessment of their international credentials.

Course Fees (2018)

Core Courses (Online): $995.00 CDN per course.

Elective Courses (Classroom): 

$855.00 CDN (HST Exempt) per course with Early Bird Tuition Fee (until 30 days prior to the course start date)
$895.00 CDN (HST Exempt) per course with Regular Tuition Fee (less than 30 days prior to the course start date)

Note: Pricing includes tuition, daily refreshment breaks, and four (4) lunches, Monday through Thursday. Pricing does not include parking. See here for parking information.

To register for any of the Professional Certificate courses to be used as electives within the DSBA program, please complete the appropriate Online Registration Form below: 

  1. Certificate in Disability Management and Attendance Support (DMAS)

  2. Certificate in Facilities Management (FM)

  3. Certificate in Information Management, Privacy and Access (IMPA)

  4. Certificate in Human Resources Management for School Board Administrators (HRM for SBA)

  5. Certificate in Information and Communication Technology Management (ICTM)

  6. Certificate in Pupil Transportation Management (PTM)

  7. Certificate in Supply Chain Management (SCM)

Registration Confirmation

Once registered, you will receive confirmation email with further information regarding course materials and logistics.  You will also be notified of any additional textbooks that may be required to purchase for the course.   If textbooks are assigned to your course, it is your responsibility to purchase them prior to the course start date.  Textbooks can be ordered online through the University of Guelph Bookstore at: www.bookstore.uoguelph.ca.  

Registration Withdraw

To withdraw from a course, please complete the ‘Course Drop Form’ and email it to info@opened.uoguelph.ca  

Diploma Achievement

Upon successfully completing the program’s 6 core courses and 4 elective courses, please complete and submit a Diploma Request Form to graduate and receive the Diploma in School Board Administration parchment.
